Matrix Create is the part of LOCALiQ that designs and builds beautiful, effective new websites. We also host many other websites that we’ve imported for clients and keep them running. We’ve been doing this for more than 25 years – and we’re not stopping!
Founded on the Isle of Wight in 2001 as Matrix e-Business, Matrix has always worked to help organisations succeed online. Starting as a specialist web development company, the business quickly built a reputation for technical expertise, winning long-term clients including the Isle of Wight Festival and supporting the digital growth of the Isle of Wight County Press.
As its services expanded into design, branding and marketing, the company became Matrix Create in 2010, joined the County Press Group in 2014, and later became part of Newsquest and LOCALiQ, bringing Matrix expertise to a national audience – also keeping our own name and local client base.
Today, Matrix remains one of the longest-established digital teams within LOCALiQ, providing website development, hosting, infrastructure and support for clients across the UK while continuing the same core mission it began with in 2001: helping clients succeed online.
We have our own clients, separate from the LOCALiQ business, mostly inherited from our former company. Part of Matthew’s job is to sell these websites, and bill these clients for work.
These are mainly Isle of Wight businesses: restaurants, hotels, attractions — plus a few further afield, including a client in Switzerland!

We manage the servers, support the team if the tech goes wrong, and plan for scenarios we hope never happen.
Every project starts with a welcome call which help us to understand the personality of the business and shape the direction of the project. Client Success and SEO teams are also involved from the very beginning to help shape the project from day one.
ContentiQ is our own platform for gathering, writing and approving a website's content before it's exported into the CMS. Alongside it we build a clickable wireframe prototype, so clients can react to the structure and navigation of their site long before anyone starts designing it.
We then move onto the visual design stage, starting with the home page which will create the foundations that will be used throughout the rest of the site. We work closely with the client to ensure we a website tailored to them.
Approved content in ContentiQ exports directly into the CMS, building every page and content block automatically. That frees us up to hand-build the parts of the design that make the site distinctive.
